The long and short of it: This 3 handle Thermostatic 17T Series TempAssure Shower Control with Integrated 6-setting Diverter sold COMPLETE with Rough-in Valve is the perfect base for creating a Custom Shower System. The 17T thermostatic cartridge provides the highest water output flow rate of any Delta shower cartridge. Furthermore it is designed to maintain a consistently high water pressure, regardless of other water demands on your plumbing system. This is very important for a shower system which uses more water than a normal shower faucet. The bottom dual control handles allow for you to adjust the shower water temperature and pressure and the top handle operates the diverter function.
The larger bottom handle rotates counter-clockwise to turn on the water and control the volume of water flow. The smaller dial that sits on top of the large handle allows you to set the water temperature. Once you get a perfect temperature set it is not necessary to adjust every time. You can simply leave the temperature dial in place and turn on the water using the larger handle. Of course you can make adjustments any time.
This item also features a built-in 6-setting diverter. The handle in the upper portion of the shower control is the diverter. The diverter's function is to divert water. Once the water is on and flowing at the temperature you set, you need to send it to the spray outlets. This 6-setting diverter allows for a total of 3 peripheral spray outlets. It is the key to supplying water to these shower sprays. With the 6-setting integrated diverter, you can configure a shower system with a normal shower head, a handheld shower, and body sprays. Another configuration might be a ceiling mount shower head, a handheld shower, and a normal shower head. The different settings allow you to choose which sprays will be on at any given time. With a total of 6 settings you have 3 individual positions and 3 shared positions. This allows you to run any shower spray independently or in any combination of 2. For example, you could turn on just the showerhead, or the showerhead and handheld shower, or the body sprays and shower head, or just the handheld shower alone etc. etc. The choices will depend on how you have configured your shower system. Buy this item if: You are building a custom shower system. Think of a shower control with integrated diverter as the base of the shower system. Normally you would need to purchase the shower control and diverter separately. Delta has simplified the installation by allowing all controls to be plumbed through a single in wall rough-in valve (included). You have the bottom controls to turn the water on and set the temperature. You also have the top diverter control to send the water to your various peripheral shower system sprays. This item INCLUDES the rough-in Valve. We want to make buying easy so this item is sold complete with the valve and is ready to install. Order today!
This fixture INCLUDES the required Rough-in Valve. The Valve is the part that installs in the wall and connects to your home's hot and cold water supply. The Valve included with this item is the R22000 MultiChoice Universal with Integrated Diverter one-piece forged Rough-in Valve without Stops. This unique fixture merges a shower mixing valve and a diverter valve into a single unit, allowing it to serve as the main valve for a full custom shower system. Delta has manufactured all of their Integrated Shower Faucet Control with Diverter Trim kits (the part of the Shower you actually see) to all fit the same Valve. In the future, if you ever plan to change the style or finish of your Integrated Diverter Shower Fixture, you will not need to change out the Valve in the wall (as long as you stick with Delta as the manufacturer). This saves you from having to rip out tile or go through other hassles to change the style of your shower. You can just swap out the old with the new. This advantage allows you to stay up to date with the latest design and home decor trends! The R22000 Valve has back-to-back installation capability and is pressure balanced to keep water within a safe +/- 3-degrees F.
